Friday, May 22, 2026 5:34 PMThe last few classes will be pinned in the next week and prizes/door prizes mailed. The classes are HUGE and competitive! Reminder that I will need addresses emailed to me to receive prizes.
Don't be discouraged if your horse didn't place how you hoped. There are literally dozens of the same model in many of the classes. Here are a few tips for standing out when this is the case:
1) The judge can't judge a horse they can't see clearly. Hazy, out of focus, distant photos will lower your placing.
2) Adjust your photo for color/brightness! If the horse's features are too dark to see, or too glaringly bright, make some adjustments. Similarly watch your lighting and background color, that it doesn't change your horse's color.
3) Crop your photos!
4) Make sure the judge can see your horse's feet (don't bury them) and that they are flat on the ground if they are meant to be.
5) Shoot your photos straight on. Your camera should be aimed at the horse's side and level. Don't shoot up or down at your horse or from a front or rear angle.
6) Dust your horse AND your background/flooring!
7) If all else is closely tied, a good reference can tip the scales!
