- The genetic remnants of the once widespread Hebridean Pony, the Eriskay is living Island cultural heritage. They tend to be more 'primitive' in build with longer backs, large heads, ample bone and good feet. Originally the tractor and car of the Hebrides, today they are preserved 'on Island' by Comann Each nan Eilean and by the EPS on the mainland. Eriskay are good natured, hardy and a precious genetic population unrelated to practically all other breeds globally.
