- The Belgian is a tall, powerful and massive draft horse. Heights at the withers usually range 18.0-19.0 hh (64–68 inches), with average weight of approximately 1,500 - 2,000 lbs., but individuals over 2,200 lbs. are not uncommon. The roan coat color predominates in about 80% of the breed, with approximately 12% being bay, and the remainder either chestnut, black or grey. Pictured is a grey Belgian draft of Czechoslovakian bloodlines.
