The American Blazer Horse was developed by F. Neil Hinck and is founded on his stallion, Little Blaze. Hinck wanted to bring back the qualities of the old ranch-style horses that he felt were lacking in the horses of the time. To create this horse, he bred his Thoroughbred-Morgan-Shetland Pony mare, Star, to a foundation Quarter Horse of the Peppy line, Peppy 3, Blazers are incredibly long-lived, sound, and have keen intellect, heart and willing dispositions. They are solid-colored horses with dark underlying skin (pinto, appaloosa, double dilutes and champagne are not permitted). Mature horses stand between 13 and 15 hands. Horses must be a direct descendant of foundation sire Little Blaze to qualify for registration. Link
