Hello from Pied Piper Ranch

Sunday, March 8, 2026 7:47 AMFirst off, I'd like to say that I am thrilled to be here. Many of you know me from FB and IG.
About me? Well lets see, I'm an "over the hill" collector that started collecting back in the late 70's early 80's. My very (and I mean the very first) model horse I had gotten was the Marx horse "Thunderstorm" . That toy horse was the start of an obsession that is beyond words. I didn't start showing until the early 90's. There was a live show advertised in JAH and I begged my husband to at least let me see it. No I didn't attend it, but man o man did I see some seriously beautiful models. I got to meet Marney W. before she passed away a few years later. And as everyone said about her is 100% true. She was so so informative and kind. I seen quite a few of Carol Hale models there and her work got me hooked on customizing. I at least didn't walk away empty handed. Marney gave me this cute little sm foal. It was a custom and sadly he was burned up in the storage fire in 2019.
Now you're probably wondering who is Pied Piper Ranch......................Well, It's ME!!! JENNIFER SELBY!!! LOL
You who don't really like me, I don't blame you. I can go off the deep end sometimes with what ever topic is being talked about. But please, don't take my words to serious. I have a tendency to regret and apologize. Yes, my guilty conscious kicks in and slaps me silly
Well enough babbling, Thank you for allowing me to join and I will be entering the shows. That is just going to be time taking. Limited money. grrrr

Tuesday, March 10, 2026 5:33 PMHi PiedPiperRanch,
Welcome to OMHPS! I think you're going to love showing here. Once you get your model pages set up, it's so much faster and easier than trying to show on FB or even one of the photo sites. (And if the hosts set up the class criteria, it's so much easier because the system will show you which models are eligible for the classes.) There are still quite a few free shows offered, so keep an eye out for those.
I date back almost as far as you do. I went through a Marx phase too, and had Thunder and Pancho and their tack and riders (Jane and ???). I started collecting Breyers after a local drugstore started selling them (for about $3-$4 a piece back then)! I'd buy one every week or two with my allowance money, get others as gifts, and within a few years I had over a hundred. I sold most of my collection off twice over the years, but I've been back to collecting--probably for keeps this time--for about 8 years now.
Have fun!

Wednesday, March 11, 2026 1:06 PMHa! I remember the Marx "Best of the West" series! I had "Flame" and of course the Jane West doll (which I held on to, for years and years)
I think I just dated myself here... lol
I didn't start collecting Breyer's until the early '80's. Things just snowballed from there (you all know how it is..
